3. Cheers to Weddings!

Our spread included the usual wine and cheese with some crackers, prosciutto wrapped melon, strawberries and bread. James and Emily toast to the weddings episode and thoroughly enjoyed their Prosecco and Cava, and Little Man looked especially handsome in his sparkly bow tie for the occasion!

We cordially invite you to listen to our episode all about weddings as we celebrate wedding season and the recent Supreme Court of the United States to legalize same-sex marriage in all 50 states!

Our wine for this episode: Freixenet Sparkling Cordon Negro Brut Cava and La Marca Prosecco
Our cheese for this episode: Brie & Taleggio

Note: Sigh ... again, we're still tweaking the audio. Bear with us - it's only wonky in the beginning, but then finally gets better.

Whoops! Emily mentions a story about a man and his unfortunate goat-bride in a segment about weird weddings. She mistakenly said this marriage took place in Scotland, but it actually took place in Sudan. Thanks for our listeners who pointed out our mistake!

Whether you love them or hate them, inevitably, you'll find yourself at a wedding ... it may even be your own! But, with the help of some bubbly and cheese, we prepared a little history and some trivia to help break the ice with the strangers you may have to sit with at the "cool table." Get ready to hear about why people (including James) hate weddings, what the average wedding costs (and what the money could have alternatively gone toward), history of superstitions and traditions of weddings, strange weddings we're glad we weren't invited to, the marketing behind making diamonds the stone of choice for engagement rings, and why you can't just ask a sea captain to marry you on a boat (despite movies and television depicting this trope).

Somehow, we also find ways to talk about Bob Ross, Taco Bell's Doritos Locos Tacos, "Wayne's World," and Queen Elizabeth II doing the Chicken Dance, among many other rabbit holes our conversations take us through.
