Pairing cereal with wine


We're gearing up to release our episode tomorrow, raising our glasses to breakfast cereal!

As a special treat, our friend Adam Centamore sent us a list of wine and cereal pairings to delight your taste buds while listening to our upcoming episode!

Oaky Chardonnay with a cereal that has cinnamon sugar on it: California chard with, like, Cinnamon Toast Crunch is pretty righteous. The pie spice in the cereal, mixed with the sugar, really plumps up the wine.

Sparkling wine with cereal that has marshmallows in it: Think Cava with Lucky Charms. The small marshmallows have a kind of almondy characteristic to them, and they are really sweet. The bubbles cut through the sweet and compliment the nuttiness. Using an actual Champagne will really up the ante on the brioche/almond character. 

Alsatian Riesling with Apple Jacks: Both the cereal and the wine have apple notes, and the cereal is sweet enough to support the wine. 

Vouvray with Honey Smacks: The honey-coated cereal (well, "honey"-coated is probably more accurate) brings out the viscosity of the wine in a really tasty way ...
